Shortlisted for Best Personal Finance Blog!

I've had some really exciting moments since I started my Your Money Sorted business.

  • Receiving surprise messages every single week from readers, who are grateful for the help I give them.
  • Working for BBC Radio Scotland as money coach on Clever About Cash
  • Being featured in the Guardian, on Share Radio and on the Money Advice Service website
  • Getting asked by Virgin Money and giffgaff to speak at events in Glasgow and Newcastle.
  • A Your Money Sorted project getting shortlisted at the Dumfries and Galloway Life Awards.

However I don't think I have ever been as excited as I was on Friday, when I was shortlisted for :

Best Personal Finance Blog in the UK Money Bloggers' (UKMB) Awards!

best personal finance blog

I genuinely cannot believe that I have been shortlisted in this category.  The UKMB is packed with amazing bloggers, and I would have been delighted to have reached any shortlist, but to have been shortlisted in this category is just the ultimate accolade.

The quality of the shortlist is really high and the other five finalists in this category are all absolutely superb, and I wish them all the best of luck on the day.

Judging

The judging of the SHOMOs is a rigorous affair, with each category being judged by guest judges, as well as our 2 head judges, Andy Webb and Karyn Fleeting, and other members of the UKMB community.

Huge thanks to Andy and Karyn for the amount of work that they put into organising the SHOMOs, and to all the other judges for giving up their time to do this important job. There is also a People's Choice Award, which can be voted for by the general public, with details of how to vote to follow soon.  You can read more about all the other fantastic categories, and the blogs shortlisted in those below.

The SHOMOs Awards

The Awards Ceremony, the SHOMOs, takes place in London in November and I am really looking forward to it already.

The day will be spent learning and collaborating with all the other bloggers at the annual conference, while the SHOMOs Awards Ceremony will take place in the evening.

As well as having exciting times over the past 3 years, I have also had some really frustrating moments.  When I have sat over the keyboard, crying tears of frustration when the bloody tech won't do what I think it should do.  When I have been so tired, and stressed, trying to juggle motherhood, teaching, and building my business.

There have been so many times when I have felt like jacking it all in.

However, although others may have doubted me, I have never actually doubted that I could make this work.  Being shortlisted in this category really proves to me that I am making a difference.  And I really look forward to continuing to do that every day.

Thanks to all of you for your support!
